Coronavirus Update

The 2020-2021 audition process is currently being worked out by committee. The information below is how auditions were held last year. This years auditions will ideally be of similar merit and style, with open rehearsals and one on one auditions the first few weeks of term. Check back soon and follow our social media pages to get the latest information!

Join us! Participating in the Elizabethan Madrigal Singers yields a great many rewards: the opportunity to develop and further one’s artistic, technical, and musical skills, the depth of feeling that resonates with a singer when performing a masterwork, the chance to work in an intimate environment with close friends, as well as the sense of accomplishment that comes from performing in international music tours and festivals. If you happen to be a vocally-inclined Aberystwyth University student or an Aber local, please consider adding this enriching experience to your life.

The Audition Process

In order to preserve the rigour and prestige of Mads, singers interested in joining must take part in and pass a fairly selective audition process. If you are interested in joining the choir, please fill out this information slip and a member of committee will shortly be in contact with you.

Alternatively, if you have any questions at all about the audition process, please contact any member of committee, though the conductor might be of the most help. Please note that NO PRIOR SINGING EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED. We are happy to help anyone, no matter the skill level, prepare for the audition. Please do not be at all frightened at the requirements.

Important Dates and Times

Currently, we practice twice a week at the Old College on Monday and Friday evenings from 18:30-20:30. If you are in Concert Band and cannot make Monday evening rehearsals, special arrangements can be made in this case.

Fridays, 18:30-20:30 | Music Studio, Old College

Choir members will be notified about special cases such as workshops, solo auditions, extra rehearsals, and dress rehearsals at least 14 days prior to their commencement.
